Any action taken with your data — storing it, reading it, sending it to a payment gateway, deleting it. All of that counts.
The reason we’re legally allowed to touch your data at all. Ours are: contract, consent, legitimate interest, legal obligation.
When you create an account, MatchGen.ai receives your email and picks a display name and avatar. That's called 'account data'.
Legal basis: performance of a contract — we can't run a chat app without knowing which account belongs to you.
Every message you send is stored so your companion can remember what you talked about last time. We also automatically pull out things you shared (your name, hobbies, mood) and save them as 'memory notes'.
Legal basis: performance of a contract + your consent when you enable memory. You can wipe both at any time from Settings.
We log a bit of technical info — your IP address, browser, when you were last active. It helps us catch fraud, keep the site fast, and see when things break.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (security & service reliability). Kept for 30 days, then permanently deleted.
When you subscribe, your card details never touch our servers. We hand you off to a certified payment processor (Paystack, Razorpay or Stripe depending on your region). They process, we just get a 'success/failure' signal.
Legal basis: performance of a contract + legal obligation (tax records). Financial receipts are kept 10 years — that's a legal requirement, not a choice.
To reply to your messages we call AI models hosted in the US and EU. Your text is sent there just long enough to generate a reply, then it comes back.
Governed by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). We do not sell your data to third parties.
Ask us to delete your account and everything tied to it disappears from our systems within 30 days, except records we're legally forced to keep (payment receipts).

Fix wrong information (email, display name, memory notes) right from Settings.
Delete your account and everything linked to it — 'right to be forgotten'.
Export your data in a structured, machine-readable format to move to another service.
Object to processing based on legitimate interest (analytics, marketing).
Turn off memory, marketing emails, or any consent-based processing at any time.
